Calvin Andrew Ahead Of Bristol Rovers

20 October 2017

Calvin Andrew spoke to iFollow ahead of Rochdale’s game against Bristol Rovers on Saturday…

Dale were pegged back to a 2-2 draw against Northampton Town in midweek, but the forward is focused on taking the positives from the result.

“We try to take the positives from every game that we play," said Andrew.

You can’t dwell too much on the negative stuff in football, and with the position we’re in at the moment, you have to take the positives and go into the next match trying to rectify any issues.

“It was always a matter of time before we started scoring goals, so we’ve kind of reversed roles at the moment. We’re doing everything we can on the training pitch to get everything going in the right direction.

“The club’s position is not where we want to be, but we’ll definitely do what we can to change that. It’s good to be disappointed that we’re not winning games, but it's important to remember that we’re not losing games.

“It’s imperative we go out there on Saturday and do everything we can to get the three points.”

Andrew has missed the majority of the season so far through injury, but has enjoyed a run of games since returning, including two this week already.

“Personally, it was important to get the two games on the bounce for the first time in a long time - it was a good test for me. I’m getting back to fitness and go into the next game feeling a lot better about myself.

“Once you’ve played two or three games, you can build up your fitness and move into the next game with that in the tank, knowing you can play 90 minutes. My body feels a lot stronger and fitter, and I’m in a good place.

“At the end of the day, football is about putting your body on the line and trying to do your utmost to win points and win games.”
