Youth Team: Louis White On Developing At Dale

17 November 2017

Youth Team midfielder Louis White spoke to iFollow ahead of Saturday’s match against Wrexham, and discussed how he is developing at Rochdale Football Club.

Dale return to action this weekend after a fortnight layoff, and White is looking forward to returning to action.

“Having not played for couple of weeks,” said White.

“It is frustrating because you always want to play, but I’m looking forward to getting back and playing competitive football again.”

White picked up an injury in pre-season which meant he missed the opening weeks of the season.

Having watched his teammates pick up some good results, the first-year scholar has had to work hard to himself into the team in recent weeks.

“I’m very pleased with myself. Getting an injury was unlucky – I can’t really help that.

“Fighting hard, working hard, having a good application in training has proved to be good, because I’m back in the team.

“I want the other lads to do well, but I want to take care of myself as well. We’re all good players, so I know I have to be at a good standard all the time.

“Looking at other players and trying to get the better of them gives me a good motive to try and do more than what I should be doing already.”

The midfielder may be a familiar name to supporters, having travelled with the First Team on their pre-season training week in Tenerife.

“It was great. Being surrounded by the first team lads and the Gaffer, it was a good experience, not just for myself but for Keith [Kearney] and Dan [Adshead] as well.

“Training with the first team, who are better players, helped my development as well to become a better player in the future.

“Campsy [Callum Camps] came through the Academy and he’s now one of the better players in the team, so it gives me a good motive to go and be like him, to come through the Academy and then be near the top.

“It’s a good club to come through, because they give young players opportunities. Working hard and giving yourself the best opportunity to come through, it’s a good club to do that at and I’m happy I’m here.

“We all want a professional contract at the end of it. So working hard every day, in whatever you do, is important.”
