Schools Cup Tournament Back For A Second Year

3 May 2017

Following last year's success, we're delighted to announce the return of the Schools Cup Tournament.

Organised by the Rochdale AFC Academy and Dale in the Community Trust, the football festival which was launched for the first time last year for Year 1 pupils only, is set to be even bigger this year, with pupils from Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 from across the Borough all invited. We’re pleased to announce that 32 teams have entered and will take part in the competition at the Crown Oil Arena this Thursday and Friday.

The event is designed to give local children the chance to say ‘I played at the Crown Oil Arena!’

It also provides Dale’s Academy with the opportunity to spot the most talented footballers in in Rochdale and promote the club's educational and physical activity pathways, and the club’s community ethos.

All players who take part will receive a medal.

Last year, Norden Primary School won the competition and pupils received a visit from Joe Bunney, who presented them with their trophy.
