A Lot Of Points To Play For - Chris Beech

10 March 2017

Assistant Manager Chris Beech looks ahead to Saturday’s League One fixture v MK Dons…

Rochdale go into the match on the back of last weekend’s 3-3 draw with Sheffield United. Dale twice came from behind to secure a point against the league leaders and Beech says important the players show that same type of character, fight and spirit between now and the end of the season.

He commented: “The players kept going on Saturday and we’ve got to have that same attitude towards attacking the last 13 games of the season because there’s a lot at stake and there are a lot of opportunities still out there.

“We have a lot of Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday fixtures coming up now and we can get an injection of points over a four-day period which will make a big difference to where you end up in the league table.

“We’re going to go to MK Dons buoyant and organised, and we’re looking forward to a great opportunity.

“We’re ready to attack MK Dons, but we’re also very respectful of what they’re doing. They’ve had an upturn in form and they’ve appointed a new manager who obviously wants to put his mark on English football after having done ever so well in Scotland."

The weekend’s game at MK Dons is the first of two away games for Dale, with a trip to Scunthorpe United awaiting on Tuesday night.

“We’re capable of winning any game. You can’t hide away from the fact that we don’t seem to gain the same results when we play away from home, despite often playing some really good football, and we, and the players, have to learn from that.

“We’ve got two away games now and that’s going to be tested, so I’m looking forward to firstly going to MK Dons and then re-grouping and re-setting for Scunthorpe away.

“We’re looking to get past that 50-points mark in the next two games. With 13 games left, there are a lot of points to play for. We’re going to go for it, we’re going to see what we can do and we want to finish the season strongly so we’re going to attack the 13 opportunities.

“Let’s stick together and try to get as many points as we can.”
