Dale Present Local Awards In The Community

5 July 2017

Rochdale AFC are proud to have been a part of two separate awards evenings in the Borough over recent weeks.

The Club were in attendance at the Rochdale Diversity Awards, and the Volunteer of the Year Awards, both held at the Rochdale Town Hall.

At the Rochdale Diversity Awards, Director Andrew Kelly presented the Health & Leisure Award to the Rochdale Hornets Foundation for their work in the community.

The Club also invited Annie Zaidi to be a guest speaker at the awards. Annie is the first female Muslim UEFA B coach, and earlier this year collected a British Empire Medal having been named in the Queen's New Year's Honour list.

At the Volunteer of the Year Awards, Dale's new Club & Community Strategic Development Manager, Anthony Schiavo, presented the Group Volunteer Award to the Talk English Project. They are also recipients of a VIP package to a forthcoming match at the Crown Oil Arena this season.

Rochdale Borough Council are leading on the Talk English Project, in partnership with Hopwood Hall College and Rochdale Training. They offer free classroom and 1:1 English support which are delivered by trained volunteers.
