The club has invested in two sets of grow lamps to enhance pitch growth at the Crown Oil Arena.
The ground staff took delivery of the lighting systems on Friday evening and they will be used for the first time after this weekend’s double header of games in a bid to try and help the surface recover.
A meeting was held with turf specialists earlier this week to discuss the deterioration of the pitch since December, and it was recommended that heat lamps are used. The lamps will enhance growth on the pitch before the growing season starts.
The club invested heavily in a drainage system during the summer, which has worked, however, it has had a negative impact by making the ground below the surface too dry. This is leading to the dry, cracking appearance. The only way to address this problem is to get growth on the pitch, so the heat lamps will be used continually over the coming weeks.
The club will also continue to liaise with the turf specialists.
