As A Goalkeeper, You Can't Ask For Much More Than To start With Two Clean Sheets - Ben Wilson

14 February 2017

An interview with Ben Wilson...

Two games, two clean sheets.

Ben Wilson’s time at Rochdale is off to a positive start and he admits it probably couldn’t have gone much better.

“As a goalkeeper, you can't ask for much more than to start with two clean sheets," said Wilson.

“I haven’t had much to do, but at the end of the day, it’s a clean sheet and it's more points on the board as we go into the last stretch of the season.”

The ‘keeper joined Dale on loan from Cardiff City before the transfer window closed last month and he’s settling in well.

“It’s always hard coming into a new club but the boys have made me feel really welcome. It’s a young bunch of lads but there are some experienced ones in there as well. The spirit is high – the team isn’t in this position in the league for no reason, so we’ve just got to kick on again.

“We had two good results, gaining a point in each game, which is pleasing because they all add up at the end of the season.”

Dale head to the Macron Stadium on Tuesday night to face Bolton Wanderers and Wilson is looking forward to the game.

“Once the whistle has gone for the start of the match, you’re solely focused on what happens on the pitch and on your own performance, so it[the venue in terms of size] won’t have much of a factor on how we play. The pitch is going to be good, though, and that’ll suit us down to a tee.”
