Rochdale's Wonder Wall Scoops In Bloom Awards

19 December 2017

We’re delighted to announce that the Rochdale Wonder Wall at the Crown Oil Arena received two accolades at the recent North West In Bloom Awards, including top marks for the ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood Award’.

It also scooped an award for the Best New Rochdale In Bloom 2017 Feature.

We were presented with our awards at Saturday's League One fixture v Oxford United.

In addition, the Rochdale Township, was awarded Gold award again in this year’s competition, the highest individual award on offer of a Township, and as a result, will represent the North West in the Britain In Bloom Awards 2018, and our Wonder Wall will feature in entry.

Following the success of the Wonder Wall and how well it has been received, we are planning a winter planting session at the Crown Oil Arena on Saturday 6th January. Anybody who would like to get involved should contract Frances Fielding – Email: frances@rochdaleafc.co.uk Tel: 01706 753581.

Frances commented: “We’re all absolutely delighted to have received these two awards and we’re extremely proud to have taken part in this brilliant community project.

“The flowers have completely transformed the area at the back of the Sandy Lane stand, which was once disused and overgrown with weeds, into an eye catching feature.

“I’d once again like to thank our sponsors Gordon Rigg Garden Centres, Green Cloud IT and Crown Oil, who supported the initiative and helped make it happen, as well as the army of volunteers who turned out to contribute towards the initial clearing and planting event in June.

“It would be great if you can join us on January 6th for our next planting session.”
