Youth Team: Tavares & Hopper On Fleetwood Win

30 August 2017

Fabio Tavares and Harrison Hopper spoke to iFollow after the Youth Team’s 3-0 victory over Fleetwood Town…

Tavares scored a hat-trick, Dale’s first goals of the season, and is glad to have got off the mark.

“I’m happy because I’ve not scored yet this season, and it’s good to end the drought,” he told iFollow.

“We hadn’t scored as a team either before today, so it was good to get the first goal. The second goal was good build-up play and the third was my favourite goal of the three.”

Hopper, meanwhile, joined the club this summer after impressing during a trial period, and he is settling into life at the Crown Oil Arena.

“The lads are really helping me out – I’m in digs with Isaac [Ward] and Keith [Kearney]. The coaches are really good and helping me a lot with my game.

“We haven’t been playing well as a team recently, but everyone played well today. It was good to get the win and start performing again. Hopefully we can kick on from now.

“After the weekend’s result we just wanted to play as soon as possible, so it was good to play on Tuesday and get the win, and get some confidence back.”
