Winning Formula Is A Great Habit - Keith Hill

5 October 2016

Manager Keith Hill reflects on Tuesday night’s 2-1 Checkatrade Trophy group stage tie win over Notts County…

Dale came from behind to seal the three points thanks to goals from Sanmi Odelusi and Steven Davies.

“We’re trying to manage the squad of players, irrespective of the result tonight,” said Hill.

“We had players coming back from injury tonight, as well as players who haven’t played on a regular basis, and I think it showed a little bit in the first half.

“We want to have continuity but there are players who we feel as though are pushing themselves towards fatigue injuries. We’re getting enough injuries as it is so we chose to make as many changes as we possibly could to comply with the rules.

“We’re glad we got the winning formula in the end, because it’s a great habit to have. I think we looked sprightly in the second half.”

He contined: “I’m happy with the result. There were certain aspects of the performance that we can improve on, but these are difficult nights, because for some strange reason they feel a bit flat.

“And with the week that we’ve had, with the travels and the massive energy output we’ve had, I have to make decisions that can affect us positively in the future, as well as trying to get results now.”
