Rochdale AFC Academy - Apprentice Accommodation

Rochdale Football Club are looking for local families to provide a safe, warm and comfortable environment for their 16-18 year old apprentices who have moved away from home to pursue a football career.

The role of the Landlord/Landlady is a fundamental part of the young person’s Career, Educational, Social and Emotional Development, both on and off the football pitch. By providing a spacious and private bedroom, clean and hygienic washing facilities, rounded and healthy meals, regular clean and fresh laundry and a good level of modern communication and leisure amenities, you will be a major part of the young people’s lives whether they make a career in football or not.

The role is all year round and runs from the last week in June until the middle of May, and is usually 6 nights a week as players will usually go home on Saturday afternoons/evenings depending on whether the first team are at home, and if their family home is in reasonable travelling distance.

A normal day will look like:
- Landlord/Landlady would prepare a healthy and nutritious breakfast between 6.30am and 7.30am and the apprentice would leave for work around 7.45-8.00am.
- Landlord/Landlady would prepare a healthy and nutritious packed lunch for the apprentice to take to work.
- The apprentice would arrive back between 4.00pm and 5.30pm (unless they had a game or the first Team had an evening home game)  Landlord/Landlady would prepare a healthy and nutritious evening meal.
- The apprentice would retire to his room or designated relaxing area until lights out at an agreed time.

Payment for the agreed contract will be £16.00 per day per apprentice (it is usually good practice, and financially beneficial, for a minimum of 2 apprentices to be housed together).

All accommodation must be a NON SMOKING environment.

All over 16s must complete an FA Criminal Records Bureau check (one check per household in the Landlord/Landlady’s name).

It is good practice for a NON PET environment but this can be on a case by case basis depending on the apprentice and his parents/carers.

All properties must be fully insured and have annual and regular fire safety and boiler checks, including fire and carbon monoxide alarms.

Full support will be given on approval of you becoming an accommodation provider for Rochdale AFC.

If you feel you could offer this important and rewarding service, please contact Anthony Thompson or Sarah Ashton for an informal discussion.
