A relaxed Manager Keith Hill reflects on the first two training sessions at the T3 complex…
“I’ve been reasonably happy with the first day of the training camp. The lads have conducted themselves very well,” said Hill.
“There are players who are finding their feet and there are players who have hit the ground running, but as long as everybody is prepared and ready, both technically and tactically, for the first game of the season then I’ll be equally as relaxed for the game against Peterborough.”
He continued: “Today's two sessions were a question of reacquainting them with what we expect on the training pitch. We did two days of endurance work before we came out but now it’s really getting into the football aspect of what we do when we’ve got the ball and what we do when we don’t have the ball.
“That’s very important because those aspects are key to us as a team and our team unity. We can’t have certain players doing something without the ball and others not taking part – it just doesn’t work like that.
“It’s all inclusive, there’s no self-catering with respect to the way that we do things, so it’s making sure that the players who have come with us, those who haven’t been with us before, accept the message very quickly, because if we can have footballing athletes who have footballing intelligence, then I believe we can make another good impact on League One like we have done in the last two seasons, and prior to that, getting promoted.”
