Ian Henderson has told Dale PlayerHD that the players will be going into Saturday’s game against Burton Albion looking to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Barnsley.
“We’ve got to look at ourselves, first and foremost, and come together as a squad and bounce back this weekend,” said Hendo.
“It’s never nice [to lose by that score-line] and it’s the worst loss of my football career. To be honest, it has taken a few days to get over it.
“I’ve got apologies from myself and from the players for that sort performance away at Barnsley. We’ve only got ourselves to blame for not picking up a result there.”
He continued: “As soon as we step over the white line all of the training in the week means nothing, when it comes to game day that's where we’re going to be judged.
“We’re going to go into the weekend's game with enthusiasm and determination and that work ethic where we work for one another. Fingers crossed we bring home three points for the fans, the management staff and all the directors."
Henderson is Dale’s current top scorer, after netting ten so far this season. It follows on from last season’s exploits where he finished the campaign with 22 goals.
“I always set goals for myself personally before the season starts and if I can get close or emulate what I did last season then it’s another successful season.
“It’s not about me personally but if my goals can help the team win more games than it loses and draws then we’re onto a winning formula.”
