The Youth Team fell to a 3-2 defeat against Accrington Stanley on Saturday as the visitors at Ewen Fields came from behind.
Dale opened the scoring after just four minutes through Jack Stewart. A ball over the top was flicked on for the forward, who finished beyond the Stanley goalkeeper with a well taken strike from the edge of the area.
The early lead was short-lived, however, as Accrington responded two minutes later, heading home from a corner ball.
In the 21st minute Tyler Berry restored Rochdale’s lead. Full-back Callum Schorah worked under pressure on the left hand flank to free up a pass to Stewart. He flicked the ball on for the runner in Berry, who beat the offside trap to curl an effort into the bottom corner of the net and past the ‘keeper who was left rooted to the spot.
Stanley hit back again, six minutes before the break, glancing a header home from a corner ball.
And the visitors secured the victory in the 76th minute, netting from 25-yards.
