We can confirm that Calvin Andrew will be out of action for up to eight weeks.
A scan has revealed ligament damage to the lower leg.
“It’s a six to eight week absence,” Manager Keith Hill confirmed.
“We’re 100-percent certain there’s no fracture but ligaments can be just as serious as a fracture to the non-weight bearing bone, so it’s a difficult one for him.
“Calvin can cope mentally. He’s got the mechanisms to deal with the ups and downs of being injured. He has been through serious injuries before and this isn’t as serious as the knee injuries he’s had.
“It [being out injured] is a lonely road at times but he’s got to surround himself with the first team players. He’ll give advice to the players when they need it. He’s definitely a confidant for a lot of the younger players and I appreciate that role that he plays.”
