Youth Team: Rochdale 3-1 Morecambe

Back-to-back wins for Dale’s under 18 side…

Dale’s under 18 side came from behind to record a 3-1 win over Morecambe on Saturday at the Abbey Stadium.

The victory made it back-to-back wins for the youth team, following their opening day 4-1 win at Wrexham. 

Morecambe took a first half lead into the interval after opening the scoring from a free-kick six minutes before the break.

Matty Gillam pulled Rochdale level eight minutes after the re-start. After Dale had an effort saved by the goalkeeper, Gillam latched onto the re-bound and sent the looping ball into the back of the net at the post. 

In the 70th minute, Jack Stewart fired Dale ahead with a low strike from the edge of the area.

Gillam netted his second of the game in stoppage time to ensure all three points for Rochdale, as he struck from the edge of the 18-yard box.
