Manager Keith Hill looks ahead to Dale's Bramall Lane trip...
“You’re not just playing the team, you’re playing the supporters," said Hill.
“They’re a massive, massive club in this league and there’s a lot of pressure on Sheffield United to get promoted this season. They’ve also put a lot of pressure on themselves to get promoted.”
Both Dale and Sheffield United lost on the opening day of the 2016-17 campaign but Hill says you can’t read too much into that.
He continued:“ Early season is early season.
“I was saying the other night that performances are important at this time of the season and results are important at other times of the season, but it’s important that you set your stall out to win football matches.
“You’ve got to stick to your principles and make sure you don’t waver under pressure from results, because results do mean pressure.
“We’ve got to try and avoid looking at league tables at this early stage of the season and avoid looking at the bottom line, which is the result, and make sure you’re concentrating on the values that bring you the results. If the players are putting them into practice then I’m sure that we’ll be ok.”
