Grant Holt has told Dale PlayerHD that although the players were disappointed not record a victory over Doncaster Rovers last weekend, they believe the point gained was very important.
With just six games of the season left to play, Dale are still in without a small shout of achieving a play-off place - sixth placed Millwall are currently eight points ahead of ninth placed Rochdale in the Sky Bet League 1 table.
Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Doncaster means Dale have now only lost two of their last 11 games and Holt says it’s important that the side continue on that run of form between now and the end of the season.
“We got the point [against Doncaster] and it’s another point towards where we want to be. Three would have been better but we got one and now we roll onto Peterborough.
“We’re on a great run and we know what we need to do. The lads have talked about not letting the season die or fizzle out and we want to try to keep achieving.
“We still believe we can get in the play-offs – we’ve just got to keep getting the points and keep winning games. This weekend is massive for us and then we go into Saturday/ Tuesday, which is huge.
“The boys are in good spirits and we’re having a good laugh and a joke. Those who have seen us play lately will know that we’re playing with a smile on our faces. We’re a very, very tough side to beat.”
And Holt says Dale will have to be at their best against Peterborough United this Saturday.
“They’re a very, very good side.
“They’ve had a bit of a wobble and they’ll be disappointed with that after the run that they were on, but they seemed to have turned it round a little bit in the last couple of games.
“They’ve got some dangerous players up front and they’re a good quality side, so we’ll have to be at our best.
“But if we can be at our best and do everything that we know we can do, then we have a good opportunity to get three points.”
