Callum Camps Developing At Dale

24 October 2015

Callum Camps is eager to continue his development after signing an extension to his current contract.

The 19-year-old penned a one year extension on Friday afternoon, keeping him contracted to the club until the summer of 2017.

“I’m really pleased to have signed the extension,” said Camps.

“I’m enjoying my football and I enjoy it here at the club. It’s a good environment and I feel as though I’m developing as a player and as a person, and I also think I’ve matured a lot over the summer.

“I’ve personally had a good start to the season so I want to keep working hard to keep developing and to hopefully get a consistent run in the team. The aim is start a lot more games, or if I’m on the bench it would be great to come on. I’d like to get as much game time as I can.”

Camps featured for Norther Ireland Under-21s in their recent Euro Qualifier against Macedonia and he admits that he enjoyed the experience.

“I was training well with the squad in Northern Ireland so I was pleased to start and I was glad to get 90 minutes.

“If I keep playing games and playing well here at Rochdale then hopefully I can keep getting called up.”

And the midfielder is looking forward to the weekend’s derby against Oldham Athletic.

“I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve never played in a big derby with the first team before, I’ve only ever watched the games from the stands, so it would be good to be involved. I’ll just have to wait to see if the Gaffer selects me.”
