Alessandra: It's Disappointing That We Couldn’t Get A Result

12 October 2015

Lewis Alessandra netted his second goal in as many games on Saturday as Dale fell to a 3-2 defeat at Bramall Lane.

The striker, who joined Rochdale from Plymouth Argyle in the summer, was pleased to start the match but was disappointed that Dale didn’t take anything from the game.

He told Dale PlayerHD: “It’s one of the most scrappiest goals I’ve ever scored but my name is on it and I’ll take it all day.

“I’m just happy to be playing and happy to be on the pitch helping to try and get results. We had a good result on Tuesday night [against Chesterfield in the Johnstone’s paint Trophy] and it’s just disappointing that we couldn’t get a result today because it wouldn’t have been an injustice if we did get a result today.”

Dale twice came from behind to draw level, before Sheffield United went onto net the winner two minutes after Alessandra had made it 2-2.

“It’s disappointing, especially after getting back into the game twice, to be hit with a goal straight away is disappointing.

“When the goal went in I’m probably quite naïve to get the ball and get started quite quickly. On reflection, if we were to come here and get a draw it’s a good result.

“I just thought that we were the better side and I wanted to win the game. Looking back it probably wasn’t the right decision, but I just thought that we were in the ascendancy and I wanted to win the game, but obviously it didn’t turn out that way.”
