Season Review - November

20 May 2015

The month started with a tremendous win over Preston North End at Spotland - Dale’s 3-0 victory ended the Lilywhites’ eight game unbeaten run. Jack O’Connell scored his second goal in as many games to open the scoring, before Ian Henderson doubled Dale’s advantage just four minutes later. Matty Done rounded off proceedings in the second half. Conrad Logan was on hand to deny Preston North End a consolation goal as he brilliantly saved a Joe Garner penalty.

A week later and Dale were involved in FA Cup action as they made the trip to Northampton Town’s Sixfields Stadium in the first round of the competition. After finishing goal-less, Rochdale hosted the Cobblers in a replay at Spotland ten days later. Keith Hill’s side produced an excellent late come-back as they scored twice in the space of five minutes to secure their place in the second round.
Ivan Toney had given the visitors the lead after just four minutes, while Dale levelled through Reuben Noble-Lazarus with five minutes of the game remaining. Rochdale pilled on the pressure and got their just rewards as Olly Lancashire headed home from a Michael Rose cross deep in stoppage time.

Before the mid-week replay, Rochdale had travelled to Vale Park and Dale were left to rue missed opportunities as they fell to their first defeat in six following a 1-0 loss, despite a dominant performance against Port Vale. A second half strike from Michael Brown proved to be the only goal of the game.

A defeat to Doncaster Rovers at Spotland (1-3) followed as Rovers netted two late goals, but Dale earned a hard fought point from a tough trip to Stadium:mk days later from the mid-week fixture.

Will Grigg opened the scoring, but the home-side’s first half lead was short-lived as Rochdale drew level a minute later thanks to an own goal from the Dons’ Tom Flanagan. Reuben Noble-Lazarus fired Keith Hill’s side ahead in the 76th minute with an excellent long range effort, before Danny Green sealed a point for MK Dons in the 2-2 draw.

November ended with a 3-0 defeat at home to Oldham Athletic.
