Spotland played host a charity football match between Greater Manchester Police and Rochdale Council on Tuesday afternoon, with the local hospice benefitting from the money raised.
Those taking part in the game raised £540 for Springhill Hospice, which was Rochdale AFC’s chosen charity.
The representatives from GMP were the winners of the fixture, recording a 1-0 victory over the Council.
Dale Chief Executive Colin Garlick commented, “Rochdale Football Club and Springhill Hospice have enjoyed a good relationship for a number of years and I’m always keen to support them when we can. I’m delighted that their vital fundraising efforts will benefit from this donation.”
Lillie Winterbottom, Community Fundraiser at Springhill Hospice, added: “I would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in Tuesday’s charity match. The donation is very welcome.”
This week sees the return of Springhill Hospice’s Go Green Day. They’re asking members of the local community, businesses, schools and organisations to turn green on Friday 15 May.
