Beech: I Can't Wait For The Season To Start

17 June 2015

Assistant Manager Chris Beech says he can’t wait for the season to start following the release of Dale’s fixtures for the forthcoming campaign.

Rochdale will kick-off the 2015-16 season at home to Peterborough United on Saturday 8th August, a game which is a repeat of last year’s opening day match.

Beech told Dale Player: “Fixture release day is a day that we all look forward to.

“Playing Peterborough again on the first day of the season will give us a good marker to see what has happened in the last twelve months, but it’ll be a different time and a different opportunity.

“We’re grateful to get a home game and we’re looking forward to the start of the season.

“Everything prior to the first game of the season is preparation and a lot of focus goes on that, but, of course, there are another 45 league games after that. You perhaps slightly over focus on that first game because of all the preparation time, but you don’t get that time in the season because you just bounce into each and every game. We’re really looking forward to that and I can’t wait to start working with the lads again when they return for pre-season training.

He continued: “We won’t be surprised by League One, like I think we were when we started playing the first few games of the season last year - our performances were good but we lacked results.

“We were very successful last season in terms of finishing in the highest position the club has ever finished, as well as having another cup run, but you’re always learning and this season will teach us new things too. I just can’t wait for it to start!”
