After signing an extension to his current contract on Friday, Matty Lund has told Dale Player that he is happy with life at Spotland.
"I’m loving it,” said Lund.
“I was injured for a few weeks so to get back on the pitch recently meant a lot to me. I’m happy to be back playing and obviously the team is doing well.
“I knew that I was enjoying my football last season and I thought this year I needed to crack on and really work on my football, which I have done. Obviously the injury set back was a bit annoying for me, but I’m back on the pitch now and I’m happy. I’m enjoying my football and my family is around here so it’s perfect for me.”
Lund is the 15th member of last season’s squad to either sign an extension to his current contract or pen a new deal at the club, joining the likes of Jamie Allen, Ian Henderson, Olly Lancashire and Michael Rose in doing so.
And the 23-year-old says that continuity cannot be underestimated.
“It’s a very similar squad to last year and I’m happy to be here with the same lads who got us promoted - hopefully we can push on. There are some fantastic players here and I want to be involved in what’s going on at the moment.
“The spirit is fantastic - all the players are close and we all get along. That’s credit to the Manager who has installed that in us and gives us the freedom to play on the pitch. Off the pitch that lads are brilliant as well."
