Manager Keith Hill has thanked Peter Cavanagh for the work he has done on his behalf this season and for helping lead Dale to promotion, following the news that Cav will be leaving the club this summer.
Hill told the club’s official website: “It has been a very difficult decision with Peter Cavanagh. I’ve got a lot of respect for Peter; he has managed the changing rooms superbly, he has been a great leader and a great captain. It’s a decision that I didn’t take lightly and a decision that has only been recently made, but it’s the way I have chosen to go.
“I know that Peter will pick up a club because of the successes of this season and last season when I was at the Football Club. I will aid and help him in his pursuit of finding another club and I know he is going to be successful.
“I’ve got a lot of deep admiration for him and I believe that he’s got the natural ingredients to be a coach/ Manager once his playing career ends. I did thank him and I have to thank him again for the work he has done of my behalf this season and on behalf of the supporters and the football club in gaining promotion.”
