Kids Cup: Dag & Red

28 January 2014

Rochdale AFC’s Football in the Community Trust will welcome pupils from Hopwood Community Primary School and Whittaker Moss to Spotland this Saturday to compete in final of the preliminary rounds of the Football League Kids Cup.

The initial preliminary rounds were held over four nights at the Soccer Factory earlier this month, with 36 schools competing for the chance to represent Dale in the final of the competition.

Hopwood Community Primary and Whittaker Moss were the last two schools standing, and they’ll now go head to head during half time at Saturday’s League Two encounter v Dagenham and Redbridge.

The winners on the day will then go forward to represent Rochdale at regional finals, which are being held at Chesterfield Football Club in March.

The Kids Cup is a national competition run by the Football League, competed for by nearly 2500 schools and 20,000 school children over the last three years. It gives schools the chance to proceed via the regional finals to the National Final which takes place before the League Two play-off final in May at Wembley.
