Whitehall: Main Objective Achieved

7 November 2013

Rochdale eased into the second round of the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday night with a 6-2 win over Warrington Town.

Quality goals ensured progression in the competition, and striker Danny Whitehall is pleased with the performance and the result.

He told Dale Player:  “The main objective was to get result and we did that.  It was always going to be a tricky tie and we needed to get through the first 30 minutes because it was like a cup final for them. We did that and I thought we played very well first half, but stepped off it a little bit in the second half. But he main thing was to win and we did that.

“Billy’s had a great strike, his first of the season, and we couldn’t have asked for a better one to get us started. Campy had a lovely chip and Connor Martin has hit a beauty as well. We see that in training everyday so we know we’ve got that little bit edge on the opposition and those great goals have helped us beat them.”

Danny is also claiming Dale’s second, which looked like an own goal.

"It came off my hip and as a striker you claim anything, so it’s definitely my goal,” laughed the youngster.
