Dale youngster Callum Camps will join up with his fellow Northern Ireland squad members on Friday in preparation for the U20 International Milk Cup Tournament which gets underway on Monday.
His inclusion in the squad was announced earlier this month and if the 17-year is selected to feature for the Elite Section during the competition, he will come against nations including the USA and Mexico.
Youth Team Manager Rick Ashcroft told Dale Player that the call-up is fantastic for both Camps and the club.
He said: “Callum has a great opportunity at the moment. For him individually he has had a bit of a stop/start pre-season through illness and injury, but he has been back training for a couple of weeks now.
“We all know he is a talented footballer and he’s just got to keep adding and working on his development to give himself the opportunity of progressing this year.
“The call-up is fantastic for Callum and fantastic for the club. It allows him to go away from here and to get a different experience of playing against different types of players in a different environment.
“It highlights that we are producing players who are being recognised internationally which brings a feel good factor for people around the club to know there are opportunities out there."
