Goalkeeper Drafted In

31 January 2013

It is one in and one out of Spotland as Keith Hill moves quickly to bolster his squad following the departure of goalkeeper Ben Smith who has left the club in order to gain first team football.

Smith, who joined Rochdale in the summer on non-contract terms, featured twice this season, making appearances in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy against Fleetwood Town and Bury.

Following the departure of Smith, Hill has drafted in experienced ‘keeper Steve Collis. The 31-year-old has joined Dale on non-contract terms, subject to the necessary approval from the Football League and FA.

Collis has most recently been at Evo-Stik League Northern Premier side Buxton and has had spells at clubs including Yeovil Town, Southend and Crewe Alexandra, as well as loan appearances for Torquay United and Northampton Town during his career.

We would like to welcome Steve to the club, and wish Ben the best of luck for the future!
