Halifax Town At Spotland

18 February 2013

Dale Chief Executive Colin Garlick has confirmed that discussions have taken place with Halifax Town regarding a switch to Spotland for their league fixture against Stalybridge Celtic this coming Saturday (February 23rd).

Halifax approached the club after being hit by a severe backlog of home fixtures due to problems with their playing surface which has been left with mud, sand and loose matter following the recent poor weather conditions.

Officials from the Blue Square Bet North side visited Spotland on Monday morning to discuss the logistics of the fixture, however the go-ahead is to subject to approval from the Football Conference and agreement from Stalybride Celtic.

Mr Garlick explains more: “Halifax Town share the Shay ground with the local rugby league side and due to the scheduling at their home venue they approached us with a view to possibly staging a game at Spotland.

“I put my Stadium Company hat on and there are obvious financial benefits from this, not only in terms of pitch hire and the facility hire that they’ll need, but from the catering, kiosk and the bars. So this is borne out of the financial benefits it can bring.”
