FITC: Futsal Scholarship

27 August 2013

Calling this summer's year 11 leavers – enrol now for futsal scholarship

Do you want to:
- Get a first class education that will get you to University?
- Gain qualifications to work in the sports industry?
- Train and compete in a professional futsal environment?
- Represent your local professional club?
- Become a Futsal player, coach or referee?

Rochdale AFC's Football in the Community Trust is offering aspiring footballers, aged 16-17, the chance to do all that through their Futsal and Education Scholarship which will launch later this year.

Futsal is the only form of indoor football approved by FIFA, UEFA and the FA. With over 2 million players regularly participating in the fast-paced 5-a-side action, Futsal is globally recognised as one of the fastest growing indoor sports in the world.

Many greats from the 11-a-side game such as Ronaldo, Fabregas, Zidane and Pele attribute the development of their skills to Futsal. Televised international competitions such as the Futsal world cup and UEFA
Futsal cup allow players to showcase their talents on a global scale and ensure that Futsal is here to stay as part of the fabric of football.

As a key element of the FA's strategy to develop the game and produce players capable of representing England, and after a very successful introduction in 2012, Rochdale AFC in conjunction with the Football League Trust, are now offering this exciting and innovative programme to 16-17 year olds.

Those on the programme will have the opportunity to train in Futsal for up to 8 hours a week with Rochdale AFC coaches, under the direction of the Football League Trust. Training will be supplemented with fortnightly regular fixtures against other teams, representing professional clubs, in the Football League Trust Futsal League.

Dale’s Football in the Community Trust is looking to start this exciting programme in September 2013 and is calling on those who would like to pursue a Futsal Scholarship to enrol as soon as possible.
