McIntyre Wants First Away Win

14 September 2012

Dale defender Kevin McIntyre looks ahead to this weekend's trip to AFC Wimbledon

Rochdale go to AFC Wimbledon this weekend in search of the first away win of the season.

Dale were forced to settle for a point against Chesterfield at the Proact Stadium last month, while days later the trip to Torquay United's Plainmoor proved fruitless as the side left empty handed.

John Coleman’s men head into the third away fixture of the campaign on the back of last weekend’s disappointing defeat at home to Burton Albion and defender Kevin McIntyre is looking for a reaction.

“We let ourselves down, let the fans down and let Jimmy and the Gaffer down (against Burton),” said McIntyre. “We’ve been in training all week trying to put things right so hopefully when Saturday comes we’ll go out there and put on a much better performance and get the three points at Wimbledon.

“Although you’re disappointed on a Saturday you can’t let it affect you. You’ve got to come back in on a Monday morning, look it as a fresh start and look forward to the next game."

He continued: “We were disappointed with the way the Chesterfield game went, especially conceding so late in the game, and the result at Torquay, so the three points this weekend is much needed. If we apply ourselves in the right way we can go and do that.

“If we can get the first away win then hopefully that’ll give us the confidence to go on a run. I think when you get the first one you can build on that and it becomes a habit.”
