U18s: Shrewsbury 0-1 Rochdale

10 December 2012

Youth team record win on the road

A late goal from Dimi Tuanzebe secured all three points for Chris Beech’s youth team on Friday afternoon at Shrewsbury Sports Village.

The side overcame several obstacles to play the fixture including sickness, two flat tyres on the way to Shrewsbury and no referee upon arrival.

The encounter went ahead, albeit an hour later than scheduled, and despite preparations for the game being affected by the unforgettable sequence of events, the side overcame the challenging circumstances to record their twelfth win of the season thanks to an 85th minute goal from Tuanzebe.

The victory sees Dale remain within touching distance of league leaders Preston North End in the table, with a game in hand.

You can hear more from Chris Beech about Friday’s trip to Shrewsbury and his thoughts on Tuesday night’s FA Youth Cup tie against Crewe Alexandra at Spotland.
