Joe Rafferty is a right-back who moved to the Crown Oil Arena in July 2012 on a free transfer from Liverpool.
The 23-year-old was the captain of Liverpool’s U18 side in 2011/12, playing 26 out of 29 Academy games as The Reds finished third in the league table.
Also capable of playing in the centre of defence and in midfield, Rafferty made his Dale debut as a substitute against Fleetwood in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, before getting his first start in the league win at AFC Wimbledon.
He lost his place in the team as that season progressed, but returned for the final month of the campaign, impressing Keith Hill sufficiently to earn himself another year at the Crown Oil Arena.
Rafferty has since been a model of consistency in the first team and ended last term with 179 appearances for the club, as well as a new contract that keeps him at the Crown Oil Arena until 2019.
