Andy Cannon is a 21-year-old who signed his first professional contract after impressing in the club’s youth teams.
He made his debut for Dale as a half-time substitute in the 3-2 win at Leyton Orient at the end of September 2014, before getting his first start against Walsall in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
An injury to Joe Rafferty saw Cannon make the right-back slot his own from early March and his performances were so impressive that he signed a contract until 2017, a deal that has since been extended by a further 12 months.
Sometimes used more in an attacking midfield role, Cannon scored his first goal for Dale in the 3-2 home loss to Peterborough on the opening day of last season and went on to net twice more over the course of the following week.
