Jimmy McNulty gave his players credit for turning Tuesday’s night match against Woking on its head.

Dale fell behind but goals from Cian Hayes and Devante Rodney saw his men run out 2-1 winners at the Crown Oil Arena.

“We’re all very pleased,” commented the Head Coach.

“Two moments of individual brilliance for our goals which were great moments in the stadium, two players who are capable of producing high-quality moments that we have enjoyed when we’ve had them this season and missed them when we haven’t.

“Sometimes individuals can change games for you, we’re really happy to have Cian with us and Dev back on the field also.

“From being behind we showed unbelievable guts and character, to find these things is something I’m really grateful for.

“Game after game, win or loss, great performance, poor performance, I’ve always been able to call on the character and it’s a great sign to come from behind to win a game.

“It means everything to them, they want to deliver for the fans, they want the club on an upward trajectory, they want to do their part.

“Genuinely so much credit goes to the players for what is a really difficult game to reverse, pure character.”

McNulty praised match-winner Rodney and the supporters in the Sandy Lane stand, who were vociferous in their support through the second period.

“I was delighted for him [Rodney]. I think his celebration was a moment for us all, I think it symbolised his feelings towards his teammates, the group and the staff.

“Tonight was a good night for him and a brilliant moment when he scored.

“A special mention goes to the Sandy Lane end tonight. the beat of the drum and them singing, raised our beat, and the boys score a winner. The players deserve so much credit in a big win for us, but I don’t think without that noise and commitment tonight I don’t know if we do it.

“The support is a constant, the togetherness, the unity. It’s massive and it’s really nice to give them a return for that, it came together tonight because of that support.

“It spurred us on to go and turn that game around and get a massive result.

“10v10 they showed what was needed and defended their box brilliantly, we now move on to the next game which is one I think we can win.”
