I Want To Be Part Of It - Ebanks-Landell

5 June 2024

Ethan Ebanks-Landell is hopeful Dale can continue the work of last season and progress in this campaign.

The club captain signed a new two-year deal on Wednesday and said Head Coach Jimmy McNulty was a big part of that.

“I’m delighted [to sign a new deal],” he commented.

“The gaffer was a huge part of it. I’ve spoken about our relationship before. When I first came to Rochdale he was my centre-half partner, then when I came back he was still in and around it and a huge part of the changing room.

“Fortunately, he’s got the job now and got us playing amazing football which I think we can build on. I want to be a part of that.

“What he expects from the club and what he can bring to the club is clear. What we had to deal with last season with everything off the pitch and lack of players we had, to finish where we did, is a testament to him and the rest of the staff. Hopefully, we can progress now.

“There’s been a couple of signings already and I’m sure there will be more. Everyone has to get on board with how we play, not just on the training ground but in the classroom as well, as we call it.

“Jim not being too far away from being a player – I don’t know if he’s officially retired yet! – he can resonate closely with the players which we all enjoy.

“There’s a lot of change off the pitch, but with the manager staying and being our focal point, I think he’s our rock, with the rest of his coaching staff there to help him.

“Everything good that happens I believe will start from the manager. It’s up to the players then to feed that message on the pitch, but he is key to what we need to do going forward.”
