The Youth Team were 3-0 winners over Carlisle United on Saturday
It was Dale's first game of 2023, with their last fixture being the FA Youth Cup third round tie against Fulham in December.
Lee Thorpe's side opened the scoring through Darren Ehimamiegho. A long ball from George Nevett found Anisio Jesus out on the right-wing, who played in Ehimamiegho, after carrying the ball centrally and towards the Carlisle box.
Dale’s number nine fired the ball hard and low, inside of the penalty box, beating the Carlisle keeper at his near post.
Ehimamiegho doubled his tally and Dale’s lead later on in the first-half from the penalty spot, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way, placing the ball in the bottom left corner.
Jesus, who created Dale’s first would get their third and final goal of the game, finishing from close range following a Dale counter-attack.
A mix of high pressing and accurate passing resulted in Max Sutton finding space down Dale’s left-hand side. His low-fired cross found Jesus who put the ball into the back of the net.
The Youth Team are next in action on Tuesday when they face Bolton Wanderers in the Lancashire FA Professional Youth Cup. Click HERE for more details.
