We're Capable - Bentley

3 February 2023

Jim Bentley says his side will head to Salford City on Saturday with the aim of earning all three points.

Dale were 1-0 winners over The Ammies in the reverse fixture back in September and the gaffer says any team is capable beating one another in the division.

“We pushed a very good Carlisle side all the way and should have got something from the game,” said Bentley.

“We’ve beaten Bradford away from home recently who are the biggest club in the division and one of the favourites [to go up].

“We’re playing Salford at the weekend who we’ve beaten already this season.

“They’ll be cautious of us, they’ll know that we’ve got some fresh blood in and that we’ve got players which can hurt them.

“We’ve beaten some good sides this year and we’ve got to embrace the challenges that come.

“Salford are under their own pressures at the top of the table. They’re an ambitious club and are probably looking at getting out of the division, whereas at the minute we’re looking at staying in the division.

“We’re under pressure for different reasons, but I’ve been at this level for years as a player and a manager, and any team is capable of another, so we need to make sure we go with that mindset and that positive outlook.

“Hopefully, a little bit of lady luck comes our way which we probably deserve. People always say things go against you when you’re bottom of the league, but we’ve got to make our own luck.

“We’ve got to make sure that we get above that fine dividing line which we haven’t in most of the games recently.

“We’re capable, we’ll go there and give it our best shot and try to the win, because we certainly need it.”
