Stick With Us - Diagouraga

Toumani Diagouraga says Dale have to head into Saturday’s game at Crewe Alexandra believing they can take all three points.

Dale are currently bottom of Sky Bet League Two, six points from safety, following Tuesday’s defeat at home to Stockport County.

The midfielder insists he and his teammates have to put it all on the line at the weekend and urges the fans to stick with them.

“We know where we are in the table,” said Diagouraga.

“We have to go there and fully believe that we can win. We have to put it all on the line.

“At this stage, it’s not about the opposition – it’s about us. We have to keep working and win.

“There have been times where we haven’t played well and lost, but also times when we have played well, but still lost. Now it’s a case of just getting the three points.”

As one of the more experienced players in the dressing room, the 35-year-old has been involved in relegation battles previously in his career.

He says it needs everyone to pull in the same direction if Dale are to steer clear of the bottom two.

“When you’re an older player, it’s your role to help the younger ones. But we need 11 captains on the pitch. We need 20-odd leaders.

“We need everyone to pull in the same direction, whether it's fans, staff, or players. We all have to be leaders to get us out of the trouble that we’re in at the moment.

“Stick with us. We do care. We try to give it our all every single time. They’re probably frustrated – we’re frustrated too.

“Nobody wants to be in this situation. But it’s not done. All we can do is keep working hard and hopefully it will change.”
