Jim Bentley was pleased with his new signings, despite Dale falling to defeat at Salford City on Saturday.
Toby Mullarkey made his Dale debut at the Peninsula Stadium, whilst Rhys Bennett began his second spell with the club, both playing the full game.
“Rhys Bennett hasn’t played all season, but he came in and was solid,” said Bentley.
“He’s experienced, he puts his head in where it hurts. He’s the type that we want. He’s obviously going to be a bit rusty, but he had good quality at times.
“Toby Mullarkey is exactly what we wanted. He showed that in the dressing room and on the pitch with how he holds himself.
“He’s a proper, proper player. It was a strong performance by him.
“Owen Dodgson has come in and shown the quality that he has. I do believe that we’ve got some good, fresh blood in that gives us a lift.
“The environment that we’re in now is an upgrade. The support that we’ve got, which was outstanding today [Saturday]. To get behind the team, in the position that we’re in and the manner in which they did [was outstanding].
“We’ve just got to make sure that they stick with us and we keep trying to do better. We need to continue to ask questions of the opposition and make them defend. We need to make sure we wrap up the back door better than what we have been doing.
“Ultimately, it’s important that everyone sticks together, keeps working hard and keeps believing. We’re in a difficult position but like I say every week, we can’t feel sorry for ourselves.
“We’ve got to come out fighting and make sure we represent the club and the fans in the right manner.”
