Youth Team Travel To Walsall In Final Away Game

27 April 2023

With just two games of the EFL Youth Alliance League to go, the Youth Team travel to Walsall in their final away game.

After their 1-1 draw with Blackpool at the Crown Oil Arena earlier this week, the Youth Team have only two games to go. A trip to Walsall is up next, followed by another game at the COA next Tuesday as they welcome Bolton Wanderers in their final game of the 2022/23 EFL Youth Alliance League season.

After a tough start to the season where Dale only managed to win one game in their opening nine, losing the remaining eight, Dale have enjoyed a positive run since then.

The Youth Team turned their league results around and started what would be an eleven-game unbeaten run in the EFL Youth Alliance League after coming away with a 3-1 away victory against Bolton Wanderers.

In that run, they won eight games and drew three, whilst scoring 30 goals.

A defeat at home to Morecambe ended that run, with a mix of results following for Dale.

In their last three, they've won one, lost one and drawn one.

That sees the Youth Team sit in eighth place with 34 points after 24 games played, three points above Preston North End in ninth and four points behind Carlisle United in seventh, who've both played the same amount of games as Dale.

Walsall have had a tough season, they currently occupy the bottom spot in the league with thirteen points after 25 games played.

Their final 2022/23 EFL Youth Alliance League game will see them face us at Birmingham County FA Headquarters.

In the reverse fixture, Dale won the game 5-1 thanks to goals from Darren Ehimamiegho, Oscar Kelly, Zak Greenwell and a brace from Jordan Scanlon.

In their last five league games, The Saddlers have lost three and drawn twice.

Kick-off is at 11am on Saturday 29th April.

The game is being played at Birmingham County FA Headquarters, Ray Hall Lane, Great Barr, Birmingham, B43 6JF.
