Jimmy Keohane On Carlisle United Draw

4 September 2022

We caught up with Jimmy Keohane after Saturday’s game, as he made his return from injury, coming on as second half substitute at Brunton Park.

“I’m delighted to be back out there,” said Keohane. I’ve been feeling good since I’ve been back on the training pitch, so I’m really pleased to have been back in the squad today and to be back out there with the boys.”

Dale picked up a point from a 3-3 draw with Carlisle United, a game where the side had twice led.

“At the end of the day it’s good to get a point but it’s frustrating not to get the three after going ahead a couple of times in the game, especially when we look so good going forward and go 3-1 up. Conceding so soon after scoring our third is a killer. If we had held onto the lead a little bit longer, we might just have been able to see it out a bit.

“But there are a lot of positives to take from the performance and lots to build on. We have a few big games coming up now and we’ll look to take the positives from Tuesday night’s game against Accrington Stanley and today’s game into them. It’s important that we keep building on those, but also deal with the soft parts of our game.

“The two of them [Jim and Nick] have come in and it might take a few games to get everything perfect, but it’s a great start this week with the two games that we’ve had, with what we’ve implemented so far.”

Scott Quigley scored a brace and got an assist on his Dale debut, and Keohane is pleased to see him much a big impact in his first game.

“I’m delighted for him, he did really well. He’s scored two and set one up, so it’s a great day’s work for him and a memorable debut.”
