We Need To Give Our All - Jim Bentley

Jim Bentley hopes his side can continue their impressive away form this coming weekend.

Dale travel to Walsall off the back of three unbeaten on the road, taking seven points from a possible nine.

The gaffer expects a tough game against the Saddlers and insists Dale must continue to give it everything if they are to take anything from the match.

“We wanted nine out of nine [points],” said Bentley.

“We want to win every game that we go into – that’s the mindset. It doesn’t matter if you’re playing against top or bottom – we want to win every game that we’re involved in as a football club.

“Come matchday, you should be giving your absolute all, or else you’re in the wrong business.

“We wanted to win on Tuesday – we didn’t – but we kept that little run going. We go to Walsall and it’s another tough game on the road, but anything is possible come matchday.

“We have that belief, that little bit more confidence now from when I first came to the club when everyone seemed rock bottom. Everyone was going through a tough time because of the start to the season we’d had, but it’s picking up and getting better.

“We won’t win every game, but we need to make sure we give our absolute all.”

Bentley continued: “It’s another tough game [on Saturday]. They’re coming thick and fast.

“There’s no let-up in this division, but it’s the same for every team. Michael Flynn is a good friend of mine and I’ve had some good battles with him when he was at Newport County and I was at Morecambe.

“His teams are always well organised and competitive, they’re efficient in what they do. They’ve got a scorer at the top end of the pitch who has 11 goals already this season. They’ve got a nice blend. Another player I’ve known over the years is Peter Clarke, who is a fantastic player at the latter stages of his career.

“All over the park they’ve got quality, they’ve got strength, they’ve got a little bit of everything.

“But we’ve taken seven points from nine away from home and that’s not a fluke. That’s down to us making sure we prepare right and give everything in those games which has got us that points reward.

“We want more of the same on Saturday and we see how far it takes us.”
