Scott Quigley On Return From Injury

21 November 2022

Scott Quigley says Dale must start getting on the right end of tight matches, following Saturday’s defeat at Sutton United.

It was Dale’s fourth 1-0 defeat in the last five games and the striker, who returned from a month out injured at the weekend, was disappointed not to take anything from the game.

“We’re definitely frustrated,” said Quigley.

“I don’t think there was much in it in the first-half, and in the second-half we knocked on the door, created some good chances, got into some good areas.

“But at the end of the day, we’ve come away with nothing.

“You get 20/25 of these 1-0 results a season that go either way. We’ve just got to make sure we’re on the right end of them.

“The gaffer has said we’re a ‘nearly’ team. We’re nearly there, nearly scoring, nearly keeping a clean sheet. We’ve lost today but we’ve had good chances and on another day, we’re talking about a comeback, winning 2-1.

“We’re not too downhearted, but we’re disappointed that we haven’t taken anything.”

The Stockport County loanee, who has been out with a groin injury since mid-October, says he felt fine after completing the full 90 minutes on his comeback.

“I think we planned for 30 minutes which went up to 45. That went up to 60 and then the next thing you know I played the whole game.

“Fair play to the medical staff, it was supposed to be a six-week injury and I’ve got back after four. The rehab has been spot on here.

“I’m glad I’m back but it’s just about getting a little bit of fitness now.”
