Floodlights Upgraded

23 May 2022

Work has taken place to upgrade the floodlights at the Crown Oil Arena, ahead of the start of the new campaign.

The existing halogen light fittings have been removed and replaced with LED light fittings.

It’s the first major upgrade to the floodlights since 2014, and allows the club to continue complying with EFL regulations.

Dale’s Stadium Manager Kevin Lowe commented: “Many of the halogen lamps were reaching the end of their lifespan, so it made sense to have a full upgrade this summer and replace all of them with new LED lamps rather than refitting halogen ones.

“As a club, we’re fully committed to becoming ‘greener’ and we’re always looking at what changes we can make, both big and small, to achieve that, and upgrading the floodlights to LEDs is a step in the right direction.

“The new lamps are more energy efficient and will help bring down the club’s energy bills. They should, also, need replacing less often.

“I’m really pleased with the outcome and I’m sure supporters will notice a difference to the light quality when they return for evening matches during the 2022/23 season.”
