Wonder Wall Planting Session Postponed - New Date Set

24 June 2022

A new date has been set for the summer planting session at the Crown Oil Arena. It was originally due to take place this Saturday (June 25th) but it has been pushed back a week until Saturday 2nd July.

As with previous years, the In Bloom team are on the look out for supporters to get involved!

Come on down to the Crown Oil Arena from 9am on Saturday 2nd July - it would be great to see you.

All you need to bring is suitable clothing and footwear, any gardening tools you can spare for the day, and, of course, yourself.

We’d like to thank Crown Oil and Gordon Riggs Garden Centre who are, once again, sponsoring the Wonder Wall and helping to make it possible with a donation towards the cost of the plants, soil and materials needed. We’d also like to extend that thanks to Rochdale Council, who, too, are providing funding for the community initiative.

The Wonder Wall first came to fruition in 2017, when Rochdale in Bloom volunteers, club staff and supporters came together to transform the disused area of land at the back of the Crown Oil Arena’s Sandy Lane, which was once overgrown with weeds, turning it into an eye-catching, attractive feature.

Five years on, it continues to be a community asset, bringing the local community together, whilst providing an eye-catching display for visitors to the Crown Oil Arena and passersby.

The Wonder Wall is dedicated in memory of former Director Paul Hazlehurst, who sadly passed away in 2018.
