Dale played a behind closed doors friendly against Chesterfield on Tuesday afternoon.
The National League side ran out 3-2 winners.
Two goals in as many minutes put Dale ahead, before the Spireites halved the deficit. They equalised shortly before the hour and went on to take the lead from the penalty spot.
Trialist E broke the deadlock after 14 minutes, after he rode a challenge and rounded the goalkeeper to slot home.
Dale doubled their advantage two minutes later through Trialist A. He made a run forward to meet Liam Kelly’s brilliant long-range pass into feet, beating the offside trap to finish into an unguarded net.
Chesterfield’s Liam Mandeville saw a curling effort, which was heading for the top corner, deflected behind for a corner, before he netted four minutes later. A dangerous ball was played low in from the right and he turned it home from close range.
Shortly after the half hour, Richard O’Donnell was forced to save a strike from the edge of the area, pushing it wide.
The Spireites then screwed a shot narrowly wide of the post, before sending an effort wide from outside the box as Chesterfield finished the half strongly. They struck a free-kick past the post on the stroke of half-time.
Those who started the game stayed on for 20 minutes after the break, with all but one change - Trialist E - taking place in the 65th minute.
Jim McNulty made a crucial last ditch challenge to get a toe to a low ball into the area, to deny a clear goal scoring opportunity early on, diverting it away from the target as a Spireites player looked to turn it home.
O’Donnell then held a free-kick from the edge of the area, before, up the other end, Trialist E also had a set-piece kept out by the goalkeeper.
Chesterfield had been threatening and they equalised shortly before the hour through Armando Dobra.
Soon after the goal, Trialist E curled an effort over from Dale, while a Chesterfield player headed down and narrowly wide of the upright soon after.
The Spireites were awarded a penalty for a pull inside the area and Akwasi Asante fired low beyond Brad Kelly from the spot to take the lead.
Devante Rodney had a shot from the edge of the area held before a Dale substitution followed, with Youth Team second year scholar Jadel Yaduat replacing Trialist D.
Late on, Abraham Odoh chased down a high ball into the area and hit a first time effort wide, Sixty seconds later, Rodney stung the palms of the ‘keeper with a powerful strike from inside the box.
