George Broadbent Extends Dale Stay

6 January 2022

Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce that George Broadbent will remain on loan at Dale from Sheffield United until the end of the season.

The midfielder, whose initial deal had expired earlier this week, spent the first half of the campaign on loan at the Crown Oil Arena, making 15 appearances for Robbie Stockdale's side.

On Broadbent's extension, the gaffer said: "It’s really good news for us. George has stepped in and out of the team during his first part of the loan, but he’s got to grips with senior football and he’s a very exciting prospect.

"I’ve seen enough young talent in the past to know that George is right up there with some of the best players I’ve worked with in that age group. His physical attributes are outstanding.

"Hopefully, with the extended time he’s going to spend with us, his game time will increase and he will begin to have that confidence to do it on the pitch. He’s shown sometimes in games some really good aspects, if I think back to the Swindon game when he scored a really good goal. In other games he’s been a little bit inconsistent which he will openly admit.

"His attitude to training has been fantastic. We’re really pleased to keep him here, he was certainly on my list of priorities."

The deal is subject to EFL and FA clearance.
