I'm Ready To Get Started - Lloyd

9 December 2022

Danny Lloyd says he is thankful to be given an opportunity after joining Dale on a short-term deal.

The attacking midfielder has penned a one-month contract at the Crown Oil Arena and is looking forward to getting out on the pitch.

“It’s a really good opportunity for me to get back into the mix,” said the 31-year-old.

“I’ve been out for a while but been working really hard to make sure that I get back in the best possible shape.

“I’m thankful to the club and the gaffer for bringing me in, and ultimately giving me the opportunity to play some games. Hopefully, I can come in and get some minutes on the pitch. I need to train well, do the business, and who knows what can happen next.”

The former Peterborough United, Salford City and Stockport County man suffered a serious knee injury last season whilst playing for Gillingham, which has kept him out of action for the last nine months.

He says it has been a long road of recovery, but hopes the hard work put into his rehab will reap rewards.

“It was the first injury of my career and unfortunate for me that it was a bad one.

“I’m hoping to reap the rewards for all the hard work I’ve put in over the last nine, ten months. Going into the gym every day on my own, being in there for hours each day, putting the work in, has ultimately put me in a good enough position to get me playing professional football.

“To be able to continue to do that, after the injury I’ve had, is brilliant. It’s a proud achievement to get back playing for a club like Rochdale, who I’ve played against several times and have always had good sides.”

Lloyd is raring to go with Dale but also looking forward to working with Jim Bentley.

“I’ve known the gaffer for a number of years and we’ve always kept in touch through football. It’s nice to finally get an opportunity to work with him.

“There’s a decent group here and I’m looking to slot in, being another cog in the wheel and get things moving in the right direction.

“I’m ready to go. I’ve been waiting a long time for this. I’m looking forward to getting on the pitch for the club very, very soon.”
